Scheduling: We do not have pre set dates for these workshops, once purchased we will contact you within 5 business days of purchase to schedule a date that works for both you and us. Depending on our availability the soonest we can typically schedule for is about 1-2 months from your date of purchase. If we can’t agree on a date we will offer a full refund.

In this 2 day 1 on 1 workshop you will learn everything you need to know to confidently shoot tintype photography. You’ll have a direct line of contact with us before the workshop for any questions that may come up for you and we will send an email up to 1 week prior to your scheduled workshop with detailed information about what to expect.

1 on 1 workshops are tailored to your photography knowledge and what style of photography you want to produce! You are welcome to bring any equipment of your own and we will help you learn how to use it/let you know what you need to be able to work with it.

This workshop goes into depth on the process and is recommended for anyone who is wanting to actively shoot tintypes. If you’re looking for just the basics out of general interest, we might recommend our group tintype class, which you can find here.

Here is a rough idea of what the schedule will look like, but this may be modified based on your specific needs:

Day 1 (6 hours) - Tintype history, Large format cameras, camera modification, plate holder modification, strobe lighting, portrait posing, chemicals/chemical maintenance and trouble shooting. pouring your own plates, sensitizing, exposing plates, developing and fixing

Day 2 (4 hours)- Completely hands on, photographing your own portraits, playing with lighting and different lenses, all while being shadowed by our main tintype photographer- Matthew.
